Of Counsel Attorney Monica Hof Wallace Publishes Louisiana Family Law Treatise

Wallace Meyaski of counsel attorney, Monica Hof Wallace, recently co-authored and published the first of its kind, Louisiana Family Law Treatise, which provides a comprehensive discussion of Book 1 of the Louisiana Civil Code “Of Persons” and related matters. Practitioners and judges will value the in-depth research and commentary from the well-organized, easy-to-understand exposition of private family law under the laws of Louisiana.

As summarized by the publisher, Carolina Academic Press:

“The thirteen-chapter treatise begins with an exploration of the notion of personhood, including a differentiation between natural and juridical persons. Chapter Two addresses the legal intricacies of absent persons. Beginning in Chapter Three, the focus will shift to relationships between persons, the first of which is marriage. Chapter Four focuses on the dissolution of marriage by divorce—spousal support, child custody, and child support. Chapters Eight through Eleven examine another relationship between persons—parent and child. Chapter Eight addresses the formation of that relationship via filiation, while Chapter Nine assesses the legal concept of parental authority. Chapter Ten addresses tutorship, and Chapter Eleven discusses emancipation. The treatise concludes with Chapter Twelve on interdiction and Chapter Thirteen on domestic violence in families. Written by two law professors trained in Louisiana who are experts in family law, along with contributions by seasoned practitioners, Louisiana Family Law Treatise is deeply researched and explored. It not only examines cutting-edge modern legal issues, but it connects the reader to the historical developments in Louisiana’s family laws. The authors present complex topics in intelligible prose, such that any reader — novice or expert — will understand the private law governing the family in Louisiana.”
